I think you could so totally do this dress/coat! It's really a wrap dress with a wide lapel and no collar. Mock it up in muslin, I double dog dare you!

tailoring really isn't difficult, just time consuming. " Classic Tailoring techniques" is an excellent book to guide you through the steps...and I can help too.
Looks like it's got set-in sleeves, an A-line skirt, a couple darts and a covered belt. I don't think that's anything I haven't seen you put into other projects. It's got a distinctive front/collar arrangments, but I don't think it would be that difficult.
