My striped sun dress

My striped 1940s sundress is now finished (well, I'm going to adjust the straps a little in front, but it's wearable). The fabric is pretty, but unfortunately rather loosely woven and I don't think it will last well. It's also see through so that I have to wear beige panties. I'm thanking my friend and neighbour Anna for them, I didn't have any before I got some of hers that she has grown out of.

It's is the first pattern I've made with cups and I think that next time I use it it will turn out even better. That's the way I work: make patterns and adjust them a little every time I use them, until I think that they are perfect.

Very cute. I love the look (but then I love the 40s look in general). I can see where the strap adjustment would help. Would fiddling with the cups on the next version of this dress also help with the top button on the back? It doesn't seem to sit quite right.

Yep. :) But I'm a little bit envious of the ankles in those shoes. If I were to wear them,every drop of retained water would show through those great shoes. :)

I wanna know where the pattern is - I love the dress so much I want to try to make one for myself!

I had to make the pattern myself. The inspiration was this New York Pattern (http://frualeydis.livejournal.com/1021223.html) and I guess one could look around for it or a similar one on eBay or etsy.

Oh, that is so sweet! I love the way you've matched up the bold stripes; all those dynamic diagonals make a great visual impact.
