Oh my gods!
Jul. 23rd, 2011 07:24 amWaking up to the news of at least 80 young people being shot and killed on that island in Norway. Killed by the same man who set up the bomb, killed because they belonged to the Labour party. The killer was apparently a right wing extremist intent on killing those horrible socialists he saw as responsible for norway's (rather small) immigration.
It breaks my heart. I can't see how I'm going ot be able to enjoy that hen party I'm going to today.
May the gods of our forebears be with them.

It really hit me that it was a pretty tiny place, there wasn't really anywhere to go and the sick bastard used a uniform to briefly lull people into trusting him. There really is no excuse for this sort of thing.
I hope your friends are OK. You could see the hen party as giving the finger to anyone who wants you and your friends gone. Still, if it doesn't feel right, you can't force it.

Utøya is on the way to our summer farm (hytte), and I have passed it hundreds of times. And the government buildings are close to Games Workshop, so theoretically I could have been in that area, and it attracts many children on their shcool holidays.
This does not happen in Norway!
