New stays?
Sep. 7th, 2011 06:40 pmHaving confirmed my suspicions (heck, I was darn certain, no doubts at all) that my effigy stays won't fit me anymore I find my self in ned of a new pair. I don't really need new 16th century dresses - because I have changed size so many times that I have dresses in all sizes. But the stays I had with my first 16th century gowns, which fit me now, were so worn that I threw them away three years ago. After all I made them in 1998 (after Drea Leeds description)and have worn them a lot.
I am currently making an Italian 16th century kirtle, which has some bones in it, which I plan to wear to Drachenwald Autumn Crown, which my group is organizing and I planned to wear my red wool kirtle during the day when we would be outdoors, but there are two parties: Friday night we celebrate the 20 years anniversary of Gotvik as a SCA-group and on Saturday there's the regular feast. And I wanted to wear this gown, but with new sleeves (if I can find Rickard's sleeves from the same fabric as the gown) and a new forepart like this. I have the fabric. I even have a yellow partlet in silk I bought from
aclisto many years ago.
I can't make up my mind about which fabric to use, however, and I'm not sure that I have enough artificial whalebone.
