Slowly, slowly things are happening on the jacket/suit front. The skirt is finished - I made that one when I really didn't have the energy to try to understand the cryptic description in English on how to sew the sleeves. Then, with the help of my neighbour Anna, I managed to decode  it, so the sleeve are ready and I just need to go downtown to get buttons (and proper quilted tailor's shoulder pads, because I can't find mine) so that I can make the button holes before I sew the sleeves to the body.

In the photo one sleeve is pinned in, not even basted, and of course the collar and facing are not sewn on yet, the lapels are just folded out so you see the inside with its interfacing. The jacket will also fit me better than it fits the dummy since I for example have much larger boobs then she (The Grand Sophy as she's called) and also not sloping shoulders. Plus tummy and butt ;) But a dress dummy is a good place to keep your sewing projects, apart from that it's very useful when putting in linings.

The fabric is grey/blue wool with a broader, faint stripe in ochre and a bolder narrow one in burnt orange. I will probably use brown leather buttons with it. Waiting for it to be Monday so that I can get buttons I have sewn the lining together. According to Anna jackets which she and her mother have sewn can hang finished for months waiting to have linings and button holes made and I aim to avoid this.

As I can't get my sewing notions I may have to come up with some other project. Unless Maja does something with friends away from home, in which case I could work on my article. Rickard is working until the evening and I have trouble concentrating on writing when Maja  and I are alone at home.
