28 done - 28 more to do
Nov. 23rd, 2003 11:23 amI finished half of the eyelets on my new 12th c dress yesterday. it took a while because I'm still ill and when i sit up my head starts spinning after a while. It got better in the evening though and I finished the last 16 while watching the spanish soccer league on TV.
I woke at four this night and had to go up and get some painkillers and after that I couldn't sleep. I lay there, listening to Rickard breathing and got really frustrated because he breathed too loud (he doesn't snore, thank god!) so I couldn't relaxe. So I went up and read the newspaper instead and waited for the clock to turn 7, when he has to go up for work (he works one weekend out of two). Then, at 7.30 I was ready to sleep but then some idiot's car alarm started beeping outside. Really loud. It carried on for at least half an hour. Doesn't the car owner have some responsibility for the noise he causes?? I mean, if you hear your car alarm for more than ten minutes, maybe you should drag your ass out of bed and turn the damn thing off!!
I went to the children's room on the other side of the flat and blissfully fell asleep around nine. I woke at ten and I have not slept enough, but now I'm awake, so I guess I'd better start on the next side of the dress. Side lacing is cool, but you really have to make a lot of holes. Especially if you both have a long torso, as I have, and makes the dress longer to produce the "ruched" effect that was popular during the 12th century. (Lady Rowena le sarjeant has written an article on this in "Tournaments Illuminated", it is long out of print, but can be found in the Files section of the yahoo-group 12thcenturygarb.)
