For many years I haven't made historical clothing from other periods than the mid 20th century, clothes that I can wear in my everyday life. And occasionally something new for the medieval society, but I have so many gowns that I can wear that this very rarely happens (I'm making a new shift now, that I need). But historical periods where I have nowhere to wear the garments hasn't happened since I made my regency dress in 2006.

But now I'm feeling ready to do that again. And it's of course the The Historical Sew Fortnightly which has put me back on track; I need a community, even if it's only on the internet, to be inspired to make things just for the joy of making them. And this time it's Lauren of Wearing History who has got me hooked and I'm joining the 1910 suit sew-along for her new 1910s suit pattern.

I had decided that I was going to use some nice medium blue wool twill that I have, but this image with its checks is so adorable that I may have to re-think that. It depends on what fabric I have or can get.

It's unfortunate that the hats from that era are often made to be worn over short hair and not long hair that's been put up, or I'd so make that hat. My hair buns/up-dos don't amount to much, but they still interfere with hats. :\

...and now I'm told that there will be a 100-year anniversary steam train ride between Malmö and Stockholm in September this year since that stretch of railway was built in 1914.
*flail*
Perhaps I *will* have to make something from that decade after all!

I had planned my year so well when it came to sewing project, but I will make this one nevertheless. I have, for a while, wanted to make something that I could use for Svenska 1800-talssällskapet's events, and luckily they do stretch into the 1910's. I will probably use some black wool I have, but I'm not sure.
