The children didn't get the rather stiff duvets but wool blankets of a type that was common at the time. The scale of the pattern is too big, but I couldn't draw it better. Of course I wish that I could have made blankets like this:

The images are from a book called "Ulla-Bett och prinsessfilten " (Ulla-Bett and the princess blankett) which was printed as promotion by the blanket company Tidstrands in 1944. I love that book when I was a little girl.

My first idea was to use polar fleece, but the ones I found all were too thick and uneven, so I ended up buying sweatshirt fabric instead. The important thing was that it shouldn't be too stiff .

The pattern was drawn with textile pen, free hand. I did try ordinary felt pens first, but it just bled all over.

After fixating the colour with an iron I teased the fabric with a hair brush.

Then I made blanket stitching around the edges with half bleched linen yarn.

The sheets are made from thin cotton and decorated with a row of embroidery in double sewing thread. There will be a similar row on the pillows which I haven't made yet.

I have surprised myself by enjoying your posts about the dollhouse restoration. I've never been a doll or dollhouse person-- but I really like seeing your posts about it!
