Though I can't see why everything with women's bodies is seen as gross (unless men are sexually aroused by it). But, you have been forwarned.

Unless I have forgot to note a period it is now 45 days since my last period!!! I have been very regular up 'til now, except when I had Graves disease, so I can assume that this may be The Beginning of The End! I am very excited.

Menopause is the BEST! I only have four more months to go and I can consider myself fully menopaused. (Need to go a full year before I can officially call it!) Before that I only had two in the whole year. The hot flashes were annoying, but tolerable, and they only lasted a little while. Mostly it has just been AWESOME.

I hope this is the start of the end for you!

So looking forward to it. For the last five years or so I have exclaimed loudly everytime it came: " I don't use this equipment anymore!!!

Keep us posted--I have been switching between my usual 21 days for a few times in a row, then a 45 day gap, then back to 20-something days for a bit before another long one one gap of 60 some odd days) for a while now. It will be interesting to see how long this part lasts.

I was wondering about that too, if it will get really irregular, or just longer and longer between. My best friend had one period in July and before that one in November.
Let's hope we soon lose it completely both of us.

I don't see why menopause would give men pause...

Anyway, congratulations!

It is exciting but be reminded that it could be a very long haul. You are only considered to be through menopause after you have not had a period for 12 months. I nearly got to the 12 month stage, only to have another period at about 11 months which meant I had to start counting all over again. Don't you wish there was a button you could just push to shut things off permanently when the "factory" was not required any more?

I know, but unless it starts it won't end. And yes, I would love to have that button.

It keeps going back and forth for me. I've had irregular periods for about three years and while I most certainly don't miss the pain and the pms and the bleeding, the constant hot flushes and bouts of intense sweating that have appeared instead are not much better, not letting me sleep properly. I really wish I could walk around unclothed in my flat, but unfortunately the houses opposite have a clear view into it. (Also, it's not warm enough except in high summer. Because when I'm not having a hot flush, I'm just as cold as ever.)

I hope you'll have things easier! If life was fair, you surely would...

I swear that if some divine property designed the female reproductive system, it definitely wasn't intelligent. That, or it was deliberately mean. >.<

Luckily I _can_ walk naked at home. I actually have to quite often, since the house is built after the oil crisis and is very well insulated and thus very warm when the sun shines in.
I've already started to have some hot flushes, I just hope they won't be too bad.

I know, and I envy you :)
I hope so too. Some women don't have much trouble at all. My flushes were pretty mild to start with, and usually only came once or twice at night, every now and again. These days they come about 10-20 times per day, and I swear I lose about a decilitre of liquid every time. O.o But it varies wildly between women. My mother claims to not have had much trouble, and the period of time when you have them can apparently vary between a couple of months to the rest of your life. Although once you are decidely menopausal, you can start getting HRT. My gynaecologist wouldn't prescribe it last time I saw her, because apparently my ovaries were still active. That was almost a year ago, though, so I'm going to make a new appointment to check up on things.

On the whole, I would like to echo your statement above, that it's a LOT of bother for equipment that I haven't even had any use for. At least you got three lovely kids out of yours :) But yeah, it would have been so much more intelligently designed if you could just turn it on when you needed it and kept it off the rest of the time. Stupid evolutionary randomness.
