My work on Valeria's Eleonora di Toledo gown procedes slowly, but steadily. It does take time to stitch around all the edges of that trim. Thank the Gods that there are so many Drizzt Do'Urden audio books :)

Yesterday the brocade and lining for mine and baron Måns' new outfits finally arrived too.

Ever sicne I saw this 13th century Sicilian image with a woman wearing a mi-parti gown in blue and white (or yellow?), but with te seame brocade pattern I have wanted to make something similar.

I found broaceds with the same pattern in different colours at puresilks.us, but it's taken them the longest time to send them - first claiming that they didn't have more blue, then suddenly finding it. But here it is now. The colour are a little bit off, at least on my monitor: the white is lighter and the blue darker in reality. The orange silk is the lining, because you see a lot of linings in what appears to be shot silk in red/yellow in early 14th century illuminations.

Unlike the image ours will have rows of gold coloured buttons on the under arms.

The plan is to finish these for Double Wars, in the end of May. However, I have plenty of stuff to do before that, so we'll see. Maybe Valeria's will be finished then too, though it isn't much of  a camping outfit.

Oh that bodice is coming along beautifully!

And the brocades for the Sicillian are gorgeous.

That is a very good match for the drawing!

Your comment about the buttons got me curious as to why you are going for them if the illustration doesn't have them. Other similar illustrations do? You happen to have them and want the excuse to use them? Extant garments from then do have buttons?

I want the buttons because they are common in a lot of other period images. But also because we haven't used enough buttons on our other gowns due to cost restraints. I may change my mind and again give only Mån's buttons however, since he has too wide hands to get into his sleeves without them, I can do without.
