I'm making a new jacket

My trusted and very much loved yellow herringbone (polyester) jacket is now too big.

Too big to move the buttons, it would take some serious taking apart and re-sewing to make it fit. And since I didn't want to do that, and I may gain that weight again I thought that it would be a better idea to make a new one.
I have no more of that fabric, so I'm using a burgundy cotton stretch twill with a black window pane check pattern that I bought on sale (the kind where you pay according to weight, really cheap). I hate the stretch part, but the lining it will hopefully stop it from stretching too much.
My plan is to finish it before I go to a conference next Wednesday, since I want to look good there and my other spring jackets are not that professional in cut.
