I went to the Textile Museum on tried on this dress...

It's a 1920s dream! I haven't done my hair and have no make up, and my boobs are in the wrong place since I'm wearing a modern bra. But still!

I am also wearing wool tights and dark blue patent oxford shoes, so they are not in the photo. This was not something that I planned, I just got the opportunity to try it on.

 

I wrote more about the visit here, and have some photos of vintage sewing machines.

I also bought fabric, but it's too dark to take any good photos now.

I know - it's partly because my arm has always been thin, even at 98 kilos, and now they look scrawny.

You say the boobs are in the wrong place because of the modern bra. Should one wear no bra at all with that dress, or was there some other shape bra or bra like object? If the former, is there a reason you didn't take the bra off before trying the dress on?

I probably should have worn some kind of flattening bandeau thing, but this was very improvised so I just wore what I had on.

That's a very pretty dress, and it looks really good on you. I love how 1920s fashion look so deceptively simple and boxy but it has just the right amount of shaping here and there to make it interesting.
Also; the museum sounds reaaaaaally nice, I loved the vintage overlock

Exactly. I tried to make one for a LARP when I was new to historical costuming and it looked horrible, like one of those stiff sack dresses fropm the 1960s. Except worse ;)
