Celebrity match
Mar. 9th, 2005 01:50 pmYesterday I was doing nothing late at night (alright, around midnight), surfing the internet instead of going to bed as I should. So after I while I went to Ninya Mikhaila's site, thinking there might some new wonderful costumes to look at. So I looked around for a while and found the news page. First I saw that Perry Miniatures had made some elizabethan 40mm figures and thought that was pretty cool. You see, the Perry brothers are among the real stars in the miniature figures world. Then I scrolled further down and saw that Ninya and Michael Perry were married! So a star of the costuming world and a star of the figure world are married. Maybe not surprising, but it was sort of funny that mine and Rickard's interest spheres met there.

Date: 2005-03-09 09:00 am (UTC)Michael was right handed and had been an artist and sculptor at the time. Just a day or so before he and some of the other re-enactors had been trying to play wrong handed tennis and he was the worst of the lot. Simply had no co-ordination when using his left hand - he was totally and utterly right handed. Then the accident happened.
Once he was over the initial shock and pain etc, he found that he could use his left hand in exactly the same way he used to use his right hand. Michael described it as switch being flipped - he was now totally left handed! And his work is as good as before. He showed Edmund and me a painting he did when he had his right hand and a similar painting with he did with his left hand, not long after losing the right hand - you could see no difference between the two paintings.
Its amazing what the human brain can do.
But you are right - re-enactment of that sort can be dangerous but so can Living History as I found when I nearly went up in flames last August!!!!!
