Exhaustion

I am now experiencing something I really, really don't like. I removed that blasted tooth on thursday. On friday I went to Ortopedteknik, a place where you can get supportive soles made especially for your feet and buy shoes which are good for your feet (and I'm buying really cool red shoes). I wasn't in any real pain then, but while I was there I got all dizzy and felt the immediate need to sleep. So instead of going to work I went home and slept. I thought it was because of the stress on the body when they took that tooth out (it was lying down, with it's crown directed towards the roots of the other teeth so it had to be broken in four pieces before it could be taken out, interesting crunching sound), but it has continued. Not so much on saturday and sunday, but today it hit me while I was in the seminar and I just had to leave. It felt like I was going to fall asleep any minute, my legs were like spaghetti and I had big problems typing an e-mail to a friend, telling why I wasn't going to show up, because my fingers wouldn't move as I wanted them to. It's still a little difficult, after resting for one and half hour.
Inger, who has suffered from being burnt out, or exhaustion depression as it's sometime called in swedish said she recognized the symptoms, and I can't say that I'm surprised. I have felt the effect of the massive stress I'm under with my very hard writing schedule, not being able to relax, thinking about work all the time etc. I think I will have to talk to my supervisor and change some of the dates and also force myself to keep a slower pace.
I might have to do something about my very ambitious sewing plans too.

Slow down a little. Relax...and take good care of yourself, or you'll have us all worried sick about you. *hugs* Hope you feel better soon.

Been there, done exactly that. Take it from me, you NEED to slow down and have some time that isn't rigidly scheduled for some outside need for your attention. If what you want to do is goof off with your kids, then be it so. But whatever it is, it needs to be something you WANT to do, not something you HAVE to do.

Please do have that talk with your supervisor. I think your sleepy attacks might be something triggered by fight-or-flight response.

After I had my wisdom teeth out (all four in one go) I basically slept for a week. That was partly the anaesthetic, partly because I couldn't eat properly, and partly because I was recovering from the surgery.

So it may be just that.

But whether it is or not, all the advice on slowing down and relaxing is good. Take care of yourself. If you work yourself into such a state of exhaustion you need to take a chunk of time off, you'll end up even further behind than if you just slowed down.

Poor Eva, I had no idea it was so bad!

I hope it's a short lived thing.

I feel a little better today, but very sleepy and have big troubles getting anything done. I am working on the final changes to the chapter on clothes and gender though.
