sewing and reading
May. 3rd, 2005 10:23 pmYesterday I managed to make the ruff for the collar on my new smock and also sew it together and attach it to the smock. Since I have already done all the hemming the only thing that remains to do now is to make the ruffles for the cuffs and sew them. Since there apparently is a holiday on thursday I will have it done at least by then, but hopefully tomorrow so I can do some other sewing on thursday.
Fitting the bodice pattern on my sister went fairly smoothly, although the finished pattern looks quite different than the original. After that I have been browsing the internet, taken a bath and read some from the excellent book Harriette Wilson's memoirs that I bought in one of the 2 £ bookstores in Greenwich. For those who do not know, Harriette Wilson was the reigning courtesan of early 19th century London and the book is interesting and fun to read.
I am tired, but not as bad as yesterday.
