My dad and his wife and her young granddaughter were here today. We have now booked our holiday together, that my dada is paying for. We're going to Estonia, and we're staying at this place in Pärnu. Last time we went to Estonia was in 2002 when we went to Tallinn. Tallinn is a wonderful medieval walled town with lots of history and preserved buildings and also a very cool and authentic medieval restaurant called Olde Hansa with real medieval food and live music in the summer. Pärnu is also a medieval town, founded in 1251 and I'm sure there will be a lot of interesting things to see. As well as shopping. Knitted things like socks, mittens and shawls are cheap in Estonia and very beautiful and well made and there is also a long tradition in linen manufacture. last time I bought thin knitted over knee stockings for myself and Rickard to wear with our 16th century clothes. They use them with their folk costumes.
Pärnu is otherwise mostly known for it's wonderful beaches and it was a fashionable seaside resort in the 19th century.

(unfortunately i was not organised enough to met up with Vaire earlier this spring, to give her some money so she could buy me nice yarn... well, suppose i just have to go over myself instead :)
happy holidays.
