Good news about shoes

We had a shoe meeting today in Nylöse. This means that people made patterns and bought sole leather from Anna who bought a whole hide to save money for the group members. I didn't do that, because my birthday present from last year from Anna is that she will make me a pair of shoes if I pay for the materials. What we did do was to try my supportive soles in her shoes, three of her pairs, to see if it would work and what we would have to change. And it turned out: nothing. We can use her patterns as they are, they are just a little bit bigger than my "real" size but fit perfectly with the soles. Since they are 13th and early 14th century they don't have the very narrow soles that came later, so you walk mostly on the soles and not on the upper leather like in the late 14th century. This makes it easier to use them with supportive soles.
We will probably try to make a renaissance pattern later, but since I really use my early 14th century clothes I need new medieval shoes much more.
With my renaissance dress I can also use my black "Mary Jane-type" of shoes which are made for orthopedic soles. They don't look too bad and are really comfy.
