Avoiding work

Today I had decided that I should prepare my speech for a seminar on the Bocksten bog man that will take place tomorrow in Varberg (where the remains are). Well, I've started, but apparently being ill for awhile and not doing anything has had a serious effect on my ability to focus on work. I'm not well yet either, but that's beside the point, I really have to prepare this today.
This will be the first time I meet Margareta Nockert who has been dominating research on medieval dress from an archaeological point of view the last ten or fifteen years. She did the re-conservation of the Bocksten man's clothes and she's considered the expert by everybody, including herself. And here am I, not yet finished with my doctoral thesis. Yes, you guessed that right, I'm nervous. I have new facts and ideas about scandinavian dress in the 14th century, now I just have to present them.
It will probably go well, as long as I don't get too sick and sleepy while I'm there.
That will be wednesday-thursday and on friday I'm leaving for another conference called "The swedish history days" where I'm going to give a short presentation of my research. It's not that I mind talking about my work, but this means that I will not see my husband very much this week. Why do conferences have to be at the same time?
Like end of October when I'm going to a conference on medieval history in Oslo (Norway) first and the to a conference on fashion in Stockholm.
I guess I shouldn't complain too much though since I have a feeling that a lot of you would like to be in my shoes in these cases.
I guess I'd better get back to that presentation. At least I'm at home, with a cup of tea and The Church "After everything now this" playing on the stereo. And not feeling sick, not right now.
