I got the pink wool yesterday. It's a really strong colour, but I think I will look good in it, or at least not too bad. Now I only have to find a good green fabric to line it with. It's a very thin wool with a herringbone variation pattern and very soft so I need to line it with something as soft. Ideally it would be dark green habotai or other silk lining, but I'm still looking for a source. Thai Silks unfortunately only has light greens. Maybe I'll find something in London (Eeeh! I'm going to London again!!!).

My article is finished now, I only need some feedback from my supervisor and then I can send it in. Since it's Midsummer's eve I'm alone at work, I mean as the only person at the whole department, which is really nice. I have printed out the remaining 149 pages of [livejournal.com profile] sarahbellem's novel so I can read it when I find some spare time. It was so long ago that I read the first 140 pages though, so I will probably have to start with re-reading them. Now I'm going to take even more advantage of being alone at work and copy some more pictures from Hans Weigel's Trachtenbuch.

herringbone variation pattern - in different shades of pink or all in the same shade?

The same shade of shocking pink. Very easily achievable with cochenille, or kermes, which is the bug used in the Middle ages.

oooog, smashing. Can't wait to see the results. Are you making a new dress diary?

I didn't intend to, but it might be an idea, since it's very rare with medieval dress diaries. On the other hand, it will go fast to sew and I may just as well do a page with lots of documentation and information on construction when it's finished. Not now anyway, I need lining fabric and time.

rat.. on head... *squeee*!

We had pet mice when I was a teenager, and I loved putting them on my head;) Their little feet and hands and noses...

Anyway, the pink wool sounds absolutely smashing. I have shocking pink linen that refuses to become an obscenely bright orange and so must be used as is on some project or other.

You do know, don't you, that silk takes dye like a dream...
