Another seminar
Feb. 23rd, 2005 01:59 pmWe have another seminar today, this time with a visiting PhD-student from Estonia who is presenting a paper on "the imagery, dynamics and functions of the Other in northern missionary chronicles". It was interesting, but too long, 55 pages. I had planned to work a little on the new chapter and also grade some tests today, but the whole morning was spent reading the paper.
I have only slept maybe five hours and I'm very tired. She doesn't wake up as often as she did before, but now she doesn't fall asleep but wants to eat for at least an hour and usually I don't fall asleep while she's eating.
And another totally unrelated topic: Isn't "There is a light that never goes out" by the Smiths one of the best songs ever? I know it's a little banale to think so, since "everybody" who was a little alternative in the 80s loved it. Well, that doesn't change that it's a wonderful, wonderful song.
Now off to the seminar
