Now I'm off to celebrate the summer solstice. Yes, I know it's one day early, but one of us couldn't get somebody to watch her kids tomorrow so we celebrate today. I prefer celebrating one day in advance if I can't do it on the exact day, at least for the summer solstice because it would feel strange to celebrate the sun god at the height of his strength after it already has begun to wane. of course one can do that, but then one has ot adapt the ritual to the very different energy.
It will be a very short celebration, just ritual, something to eat and then home again. Two of us work tomorrow and if I don't stay away too long I don't have to bring Maja which makes ritual so much easier. But I miss being away for the whole day and night and experiencing the night when it never really gets dark together.

I have just started on a new 13th century dress. I used the pattern of the gown of St. Clare of Assisi. Apart from the dress only reaching the floor unbelted and the sleeves being a little too narrow over the lower arms and too short, I was a little short on fabric, it is very promising. the sleeves get just the right look and I will definitely use this pattern for my next late 13th-early 14th century dress too, but will use more fabric. The fabric I'm using now is a sort of wool crepe that I fulled in the washing machine. It's pine green and very pretty and absolutely lovely to sew in. I started it on saturday (hand sewing) and it will hopefully be finished in a week or so. I'm planning to sew some on my inner tent for the pavilion so I won't be able to spend so much time on it. But I don't need it before the beginning of August anyway.

And the solstice celebration was good. And very warm and sunny.
