I just finished hemming the shortened sleeves of my new navy 12th c. dress. Now all I need to do before the weekend is to find a good woven ribbon somewhere in my ribbon box to make a belt from. Unlike most other 12th c. pictures where the woman either has double belt, the
ceinture, or no belt at all the pictures from the
Fecamp psalter show "normal" belts with a buckle and at the natural waist (to find bigger pictures from the manuscript you must go to
de Koninklijke Bibliotheek's web site, go to Expert search, put "Fecamp" in the box for place of origin and then click on the miniatures. BUT it doesn't work in Firefox, you have to use IE). I like that look I think.
Anyway, I will take pictures of my new outfit during the weekend.
In other news I think I may have a crush on the SCA shire
Aros. Not only do new friends and aquaintances like
liadethornegge and sir Johann (Helwig's husband) live there but also old friends like
helwig and ulfr, Breanag and Odd that I got to know at my first Visby medieval week back in 1993! And Cecilia, who I met at a job conference two years ago and instantly liked. And the prince and princess (or maybe they're not anymore?), William and Filippa who botha re so nice and so interested in authenticity and the very friendly Ermingard...
I wonder if they have any events one could visit.
