still sick

I'm trying to decide if I'm too sick to go to the solstice celebration. I would love to stay at home in bed, but that would disappoint the others. I have also already bought the train ticket.
I tried to go to sleep again after I had left Maja at the preschool, but my nose was blocked so I couldn't breathe and my arms hurt too much. I won't work today, however, just rest and watch Jane Austen DVDs.

I can't decide which time period(s?)to bring to Visby medieval week. Since I have made new late 13th - early 14th century outfits for both me and Rickard that seems like the logical choice, but should I bring clothes for other periods as well, and if so, which?
I used to be very purist and only wear one time period at an event, but it would maybe be fun to wear some of my 16th century garb. Especially if I'm going to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] liadethornegge and [livejournal.com profile] helwig. Or 12th century, it's so romantic and, unlike the 16th century, Rickard has some matching garb. I wonder if Maja still can wear her 16th century dress?

It turned out that I was too sick to go to Trollhättan to celebrate. I met [livejournal.com profile] armillary downtown to get his USB-memory where my dissertation is living right now and after we had lunch I felt too dizzy to do anything. I only got back half of what I had paid for train tickets and combined with having lunch with Björn and buying a summer dress to cheer me up this was a very expensive afternoon.
My body is hurting, not a lot, but constantly and my face, wrists, knees and ankles feel very warm.
This means no midsummer celebration tomorrow either. I really looked forward to dress up in my folk costume and go watch some folk dancing and a dancing games around a midsummer pole. But I guess I will have to stay in bed instead. I'm still not well enough to try on my empire corset.

I feel slightly better tonight. Still, it was a wise choice not to go anywhere. I am still not up to trying on the empire stays, but I have cut a c. 1800 shift from some fine linen. I thought about cotton, but the preserved ones I've seen were all in linen. Only reasonable since cotton was an expensive fashion fabric and linen wasn't. Linen is nicer anyway. So now I will sit down with my beloved linen thread and wax and start on the shift. There is football on TV and I have made tea already.
