An insane skirt
May. 22nd, 2015 04:22 pmI made a skirt yesterday, when I was in too much pain to concentrate on work. I used the top part of a skrit that I made when I was just home from hospital. It was just ot have somethign to wear that was loose and nice around the bandage and cut while it healed. I haven't used it since then,s o I came up with the brilliant ;) idea to use it for this projcet so that I wouldn't have to make another waistband. I tightened the elastic a lot, I think I cut off 5 inches.

I used a lot of stuff that had been lying in my cupboard on this skirt:
The yellow fabric is a curtain I bought on Tradera, a Swedish auction site, a couple of years ago.
The blue is new, from IKEA
The lace, which is made on an original 19th century lace machine was bought on eBay a decade ago
The ribbons are also a couple of years old, the top one I bought on a market and the others are dotty bias tape.
The original plan was to make a hippie skirt, but it looks more like an American skirt from the 40s-50s, inspired by Mexican folkwear. And that suits me fine too. Now I just wait for it to be warm enough to wear it outdoors.
