Some memories from Double Wars
May. 11th, 2016 07:45 amSo, I'm back from Double Wars. It was really nice. And the weather was amazing, not at all what you expect/fear in the beginning of May, but warm and sunny. Spring really exploded with the leaves on the birches growing very visibly during the week.
The beech trees in the woods.

Due to my work we couldn't go until Wednesday in the middle of the event, and due to a total blockage on the motorway the trip took 2 hours longer than normal, so we arrived at eleven pm. to the news that my( well. everybody's really) friend Fardäng had been put in vigil to be elevated to the order of the Laurel. Despite just wanting to go to bed I felt that I both wanted and ought to go and say something. So I also got my first taste of the privilegies of a landed baroness, since I could jump the queue ;)
There would be more of that, since there were three vigils and elevations at this event: on Thursday the really amazing Mickel Björnsson was put on vigil for the order of the Pelican and on Friday it was Wlfric Derneford, who was the image of the ideal fairy tale king for me and many others back in 1995, and who has been very nice to me, ever since he got back in totheSociety a few years ago. He also does 12th century, which is rather rare, so we have that in common.
Friday was the only court where baron Måns and I sat up with the royals, and where we also had som business to take care of. Namely giving out the Gotvik service award St. Egon's heart to two people who has done some extraordinarily service to the barony: Lady Astridh Torkilsdotter and Viscountess Jacquelyna de Bellmont.
We have decided not to use a herald. We are, after all, loud enough both of us to be heard.
Baron Måns, who had been first fencing, and then fighting, and just didn't have the time to change into the shiny tunic. He also didn't wear his coronet, since the Queen, who we shared a cabin with (and who is made of awesome) is a very tidy person and had put it in the box it came in.

And me

Måns had said that he wanted us to go to them, not they to us, and I came upwith the idea that we should go to one of them each. So we started with together giving a short introduction to St.Egon and the award (three lines each) in English. Then we walked to Astridh (me) and Jacquelyna (Måns) and first Måns read the scrolltext (composed by me) and then I read Astridh's scroll text.

I of course have lots of more photos, you can see them in my Photobucket album Double Wars 2016.
