Another skirt
Nov. 1st, 2005 09:44 pmThose who know me(or are very attentive to my every post) may know that I have been making a great many mundane skirts the last year, about since Anna and I started with colour and style analysis. It's very fulfilling, you get good skirts rather cheap, especially if you buy the 2-4$ wool at Saxylle as I do, and they're much better quality than you can buy and take almost no time to make. I am getting better at putting in zippers too. And you can use pieces normally too small to make anything from and get personal skirts that can't be bought in a shop.
And now I have made another one, from fabric I bought at a thrift shop:

I've mainly been working on it the last three evenings and now the only thing left to do is to press that piece of fabric that goes over the top of the pleated part (I have no idea what that's called in english) and attach it with something else than pins. I'm thinking about having two largish buttons covered in the fabric and sewn on top of this piece, but I don't know.
The good thing is that I like the way it looks and that I've finally found somethign that goes with that yellow top I bought a year and a half ago. The bad things are that the red stripes seem to bleed when they get wet and that the fabric wrinkles very easily.
I'm probably going to finish it tomorrow morning and wear it to work.
