If you keep something for 20+ years it's bound to become fashionable again.

I just need to wash them.

I've heard that said, but this is the first time I've heard of anyone actually succeeding in doing it.

I try to ignore fashion as much as possible, so if you find me being 'hip', it's accidental, not planned.

Exactly. The stuff my teenager was wearing a few years ago is stuff I wore as a teen in the late 70's. Talk about a flashback!

The thing of course is that the _whole_ fashion concept never comes back, it's always a little changed. The so-called 80s revival going on now is very different from the real 80s. We don't see many shoulder pads, oversized t-shirts with bold print and trousers that has the waist were the waist actually is now. And jeans are still boot cut or flared and back in the 80s that was the worst thing one could possibly imagine: flared 70s trousers.
But still, I like the 80s revival, so much easier to find colourful clothes.

There are far too many tapered jeans out there! Speaking as a teen of the 90's...

I don't think they look good either. But then I'm a skirt girl.
I did have horribly tight trousers in the 80s, with zippers at he ankle so I could get them on.
