Herringbone wool
Jan. 10th, 2006 08:14 amDenver fabrics are having a sale on their wool (among other things). Thankfully I don't need any more wool (or any fabric), because I don't have any money to spend. This would be lovely for viking and 10-12th century when herringbone and other twill variations were very common, though.

Date: 2006-01-10 07:18 am (UTC)This wool is listed as 7.6 oz. I know that's weight per square yard, but what I really wish I could find was a listing of what weights are "tropical", "lightweight", etc. up through "coatweight" or heavier. I bought 10 yds of "coatweight" wool, at 14 oz., and it wasn't nearly the heavy stuff I thought it would be. It's lovely stuff, but I am glad I lined it with silk twill for the insulation or it wouldn't be usable as a winter coat for Katty. Certainly fine for a California winter coat, or a Texas winter coat, but not for somewhere that there is snow on the ground most of the winter.
Help? Anyone?

Date: 2006-01-10 04:32 pm (UTC)now, the question is, what would I make out of it? If I can figure that out, then I will gladly shell out for the required amount.
