My new skirt

The lining actually isn't finished. Since it wasn't pleated like the skirt it turned out too tight. I've cut off everything except 8 centimetres of it and will add a gathered piece tomorrow. Now Maja is being extremely difficult.

Actually, I think it's a little limp, but when the lining gets a gathered skirt it will help it stand out a little. It moves very nicely though, which it should, there's 2,8 metres of skirt width.

I do know who Robert Burns is, but I didn't know he was called Robbie or htat he had a day.
Anyway, a good reason to wear the skirt although my association is more to the punk scene.

It's very cute! I have a Scottish friend who used to live in Riga, and she and other Scots there, usually did something for Burns day. I wonder what she'll do now that she is in Khabul...

It is really very simple. It's a rectangular piece, 3 meters long before pleating (which is done with a wet towel and a hot iron)that is sewn to a yoke modelled after a skirt I already had. The only tricky part is to put in the zipper.

It's a thin-to-medium weight wool blend. And the lining, I actually gave up on it and decided to have it without lining. I will have to wear a slip under it so it doesn't get caught on my tights.
I will check on the Heyer novels, since I only have read them in swedish I can't remember their real titles and Maja stops me from going anywhere right now.
Except "The grand Sophy" which is one of my favourites.

Yes they do, I want to read them in english too, but teh old-fashioned swedish is kind of cute too and I've bought all of them at flea-markets so there wasn't much choice.
