What is your username?

frualeydis

Write a little paragraph about your name, why you chose it, what it means to you, etc.

Well, it's Fru, which means lady, and Aleydis, which is my name in Nordrike, and before that in the SCA. I wanted just Aleydis, but since that is a not uncommon dutch name it was already taken. I took the name Aleydis in the winter 1993, after finding out that the dutch/flemish name I was using then, as abeginne rin the SCA, couldn't be documented to the middle ages. It begun with an A and since I hade embroidered As on some of my belongings I wanted to keep the original. I was then much in love with a flemish man and that's the main reason I chose a flemish persona. And the textile industry. And that nobody else was flemish in the Sca then, everybody was english, irish, scot or italian.

What would you change your name to, if you were changing it?
I don't think I would, Aleydis is my name almost as much as Eva.
