this should preferably be said in Sunderland dialect, imitating Olga (Michael Algar)instroducing the Toy Dolls' version of Blue suede shoes: "This is the fastest version in the world". And he's not lying.
Leaving my strange associations aside I must say how impressed I am by [livejournal.com profile] ninya_mikhaila and Royal Mail. I ordered "The tudor tailor" on thursday and it arrived today!!
And I love it! Of course, according to my taste there could have three times as many pages with research and facts, but then I'm a disturbed costume historian. It's really the patterns I want it for. Now I shall finally conquer the sleeves on the Anthonis Mor dress, I am not happy with the way they look now.

Oooh, me too! I ordered mine on Thursday as well, and it came in the mail today. I'm in Raleigh, NC, USA.

It's taken me longer to receive things shipped *within* the US. I wasn't expecting this little surprise for another week at least. :)

[livejournal.com profile] edmndclotworthy tells me that all the books that had been preordered BEFORE the books were delivered a week ago to Ninya, had been packaged up, addressed, stamped with American stamps (courtesy of Ninya's mum sending over a pile of stamps).

The whole lot was then packed as one "package" to be sent to the US as freight. Not entirely sure who would receive the "big" package in the US but that person would then have unpacked it and sent out the individual books (pre-packed and stamped) within the American postal system.

Which is why [livejournal.com profile] silverstah, you have already received yours, as it was sent out individually to you as you ordered only THIS week!

To those of you who are still waiting - the books are on their way!!!!

Royal Mail is amazing. Faster, cheaper, and do they still come twice a day? And on Saturdays? *wistful sigh*

Glad to hear you have it and like it Eva! Jane and I both agree with you on the number of pages, we were promised 240 pages originally but then the publisher appeared to get cold feet and reduced it too 160. We are now thinking that our next book will be The Tudor Tailor's Source Book, since we do have so much more research material than we could fit into this volume, especially on the data from ordinary people's wills, underwear, children's wear, surface decoration and info on Tudor Tailors. Since we have written most of this already we think we can turn it around pretty fast (assuming Batsford go for it), before moving on to the Stuart Tailor.

It has indeed arrived a few days ago at Ninya's Mum in California (Santa Cruz I think). The books are probably working their way through the US postal system now.

Ninya posted up a announcement of it on her LJ.

I agree. Fastest shipping *ever*. I ordered it day before yesterday, and here it is, in my hands. Slightly damp in one corner from the rain, though (me and the book both). :D
