disappointments
May. 21st, 2006 10:21 amWhen I tried on Maja's new wool hose yesterday they turned out to be too small. Despite the fact that they were made after the previous hose and enlarged. But I had shortened the foot, which was too long in her old ones and apparently that wasn't a good idea. And of course they were totally hand sewn with seams split and felled to each side to make them easier to walk on. And I had also made a pair in hand woven linen. I will try to make a new, longer foot piece and see how it works. Otherwise I will have to make another pattern. Maybe one with a separate sole piece.
It's not so much work making hose, but it's still annoying.
Here's a picture of me, Maja and Valeria from yesterday's medieval market. It was raining most of hte time. Maja's wearing tights, viking age shoes, a linen shift, a thin green wool tunic (the same as on this picture from last year, but with side gores and new, wider and longer, sleeves added), her new viking coat and a linen cap.
Valeria is wearing a 12th century dress that I made for her in 2004 and one of my old cloaks.
I'm wearing a wool undertunic and a shorter overtunic. The veil is also from thin wool. The outfit is inspired by pictures from the Fecamp pasalter
