It's been a loong night

Yesterday a friend and her 4,5 month old baby came over. We hadn't seen each other for a couple of months and we ha a really good time, reading baby/pregnancy magazines, and talked about children, pregnancy, childbirth, our love-lives and textile crafts (very little compared to the other subjects, but some). At eight her fiance called. Her seven year daughter and a boy had ran into each other at the scout meeting they were at and she had a cut at her eyebrow. It was quite large so they decided to go to the hospital to have it cared for. We decided that my friend and the baby could wait at our place and they would pick her up later, thinking that they would at least be finished before midnight. They came at four! First they hadn't got any help for a very long time (like it sometimes is in emergency rooms) and then the girl had panicked at the thought of getting a shot so they could sew the cut together. Apparently they let her get away with being hysterical for several hours and were going to to stitch her up during anesthesia (Is that the right word? When you sleep) until a sensible doctor gave her something calming, talked sense to her and gave her the shot and sewed the cut. After that everything went just fine and when she came her at four she was rather proud of her stitches and the fact that she was up at four in the morning. My husband and I had gone to bed at midnight and my friend had tried to too, but she has a hip injury and couldn't lie well on our children's too thin mattress so she stayed up instead. I didn't sleep much either since I woke up by the phone ringing and by my friend calling the father of her daughter and her parents at two or something so I stayed home from work today and slept. Soon my best and oldest friend is coming to see me (she lives in another town) and we're going to eat chocolate and chat. My social life is very busy these days.
Tomorrow another friend and _her_ baby are coming over, saturday a colleague is defending her doctoral dissertation and gives a party and sunday I'm going to see my sister. I'm not sure I have the energy for all this, but I'll try.
