I got a new recorder from
armillary, Anna and Kristian, as a disputation present. It has baroque/english fingering which I never have played before. Not that I have played much with german fingering either; one year back in 1980 and then occasionally the last years, maybe three times a year or so. But since it's new I need to play it for 10-15 minutes every day to break it in and I can tell you it makes wonders for my skill. I'm also learning to play lots of new tones. As a kid you pretty much stay within one octave, but a lot of renaissance songs has a wider range than that. I'm having real trouble with those tones you get by covering only half the hole on the back of the recorder though, it takes a lot of practice to get them right.

Date: 2006-10-27 11:52 pm (UTC)I'm glad you liked it. Personally, I was a little dissappointed that I couldn't find a nicer one than that, but we were in a rush with all the preparations.
I don't get it.

Please enlighten me. :)
