You know, I really need to study for my exam tomorrow and proofread the dissertation again and make changes before I deliver it to the printer on Monday for the reprint.
And I am doing that. Too, but unfortunately I started on Sorcery and Cecelia yesterday and now all I want to do is to finish it. It's really all [livejournal.com profile] seamstrix' fault. She wrote about the book in one of her first posts and a week ago I decided to check it out; so I ordered it, and the sequel The grand tour. And it really is that good.
Regency fantasy, who could ask for more?

There were coppies of both in the room you slept in while you were here... If I'd thought to mention them...

It's good you didn't; i haven't had time for any reading for fun the last year.

Who is the author? What are they about?

http://www.amazon.com/Sorcery-Cecilia-Enchanted-Chocolate-Carpet/dp/0606328343/sr=8-2/qid=1162468123/ref=sr_1_2/002-7344068-5192050?ie=UTF8&s=books

It's about two young Regency women exchanging a series of letters describing their on parts in the mystery surrounding a magic chocolate pot (it sounnds more "childrens-book" than it actually is).

I've read lots of other books by both authors too.

I read a book called Dealing with Dragons by Patricia Wrede, once. It was a long time ago, but I remember liking it.

I didnt get any funds, it's a private project. We're using up our only saved money. Hopefully it will sell well enough so we at least will get the money back.

Eek. Well, considering the rate the previous one sold at, I think you'll get your money back.

I feel a little guilty about not helping out with this version, but I just haven't had the time. I may stop by on Saturday on my way to Fun With Concrete if you feel the need for some moral or technical support.

Don't feel guilty. I've done most of the changes; including changing the text on the picture. It could be done with Acrobat too.
But of course I don't mind a little company ;)

Wonderful!
I like her best in the early 19th century setting. I didn't like Beauvallet, which is set in the 16th century, much.

"Beauvallet" is an anomaly, so is "Simon the Coldheart". Try "The Corinthian" or "The Unknown Ajax."

Heyer does drawing room comedy like no other writer. The last third of "The Unknown Ajax" will have you rolling on the floor in helpless laughter.

Oh, I love that book. I read it years ago, and was frustrated that it was out of print. I was very pleased when they finally republished it and I could get my own copy. I have The Grand Tour too, but the first one is better.

Guilty as charged. *grin*

Glad you are liking it. It's been a consistent fav of mine for quite awhile and I'm happy to spread the joy. Sorry about the distraction tho.....well....I lie. I'm not sorry, everyone needs a bit of mental recreation to keep the brain fresh. Enjoy!

I also liked Caroline Stevermer's "A College of Magics" and "A Scholar of Magics."
