I'm spending this sunday browsing pictures of old clothing on the internet. And I wonder, is this dress beautiful or horrible? I just can't make up my mind.

I'd go with vile beyond belief, personally

I like it until I look at the skirt. The stripe placement on that skirt reminds me of badly done wallpaper. It's horrible.

My first raction was a violent shudder and a sound of disgust... so I'm going to go with option B here.

Now you see, I quite like it. Not my colours, but I do like it.

It reminds me of a dress I made for my china doll when I was little. It is beautiful, so long as I don't have to wear it. ;>

I love it. I love the fabric, I love the style, I love the colors. I'd eat it with a spoon if it were edible. ;)

The fabric is warp ikat with a satin stripe and I have insane respect for anyone who can pull that off with that much skill (I suspect it was hand loomed, even though machine looms did exist at the time). And I love the way the skirt was done... The stripes running vertically in the front and then turning horozontally in the back... It had to be intentionally done that way.

Fabulous!

I'd love it if it was a cake. As a dress, I just stare in hoffified fascination.

The scary thing is that I think I could pull it off. I need to loose some weight, but otherwise I think I would be very pretty in that. Not sure if that's a good thing though.

It looks like a living room; wallpaper, curtain, couch and overdecorated pillows in just one dress.

I dunno, I think it has its charm, actually.

Only Scarlett O'Hara can pull off wearing a curtain. 'Nuff said.

It could probably look good if the tailor had made up his/her mind.

The skirt would definitely look nice, but the bodice drowns in too many different decoration ideas.

I...I...I cannot decide. It's either horribly beautiful, or beautifully horrible. It's certainly unique.

I think it's trying to be sophisticated and girly at the same time, and failing at both. Mutton which can't quite make up its mind whether or not to dress as lamb. And maybe I'm just too tired to make sense of it, but I somehow think it's hilarious to call an American wallpaper dress "aristocratic". Must look it up.

Lovely style, horrible fabric which probably evens out to average... or something

Hehehe... It looks like something mom would hang as curtains in her living room. ;D
In other colours and fabrics it'd probably be much nicer.

I like it, but not that fabric. ugh. Something like a dark green velvet or satin would look awesome.

I've looked at it several times for the last days and I really can't decide. I like the skirt though.
