Rickard has given me his cold, so I have a very uncomfortable feeling in my throat and nose and a sometimes runny nose. Today I've been to the rheumatologist and I got a paper that says I can be home and recover until the 20th of March. I also got a prescription for prednisolon (cortisone) which hopefully will help. First she wanted to put me back on MTX despite the bad side effects I suffered from (constant sinusitis for months), but after checking out were the pain and inflammations was she declared that the inflammations were mostly in the tendons and where they are connected to the joints, so MTX wouldn't be much help. It also isn't very effective on the main centres of inflammation for us with Psoriatic arthritis, namely back and rib cage. But cortisone tablets are, so tomorrow I start with them and I will go on for three months.
This will make it harder to loose weight, actually people on cortisone usually gain weight, because it increases the appetite and makes it harder to feel when you're not hungry anymore. But I will continue as planned. Since it binds water in your body it will be even harder to see results, but if I can keep up my weight decrease I will probably get a pleasant surprise when I get off the medication.
But most of all I hope that I will stop hurting so much.

much, much sympathy

Good luck! Prednisone was just the thing for me. I have MS, not arthritis, but the prednisone totally rocks for inflammation in the spinal area. I have residual stiffness in my right ahnd instead of a claw, just as an example. Unfortunately, I have to to report that I eat like a freakin' horse when I'm on it.
