For the very last time

I stopped nursing Maja yesterday. It feels sad, but one has to stop some time and she has this tendency to swallow air when she eats, which gives her tummy aches that wake her up in the night. When I'm away she doesn't get those, so we're pretty sure there's a connection.
Of course, tonight she had the worst tummy ache ever, keeping us awake most of the night, but it wasn't the same kind and not related to nursing or not nursing.

No reaction this far. She may cause some trouble when we put her to bed, because that's when I usually nurse her, but yesterday she was so tired that she fell asleep just like that.

The last time is always going to be wistful. I cut Michael off, but Kat just stopped coming for it finally on her own. Snuggle time continued at the same time that nursing time had been, but it just wasn't the same. I'm really glad I nursed until they were 3 1/2 and 3, and allowed them to come for the occasional comfort suck for a year after that, but there is a time for all things, and you have a very valid reason for declaring this to be the end of the nursing time for your baby.
