Grease is the word

Maja has fallen in love with Grease, which means that even if I didn't want to watch it at least once a day I still would see it maybe three times every day. Not all of it, and not while concentrating, but still. We're dancing and singing and talking about what the girls and boys are doing. ("Mama, the white girl wants to marry her". "Her" is in this case danny, "her" and "him" aren't quite sorted out yet). And I want to make Rizzo's red dress from the dance contest.

Oh, and Rickard caught himself humming "Beauty School Drop-out" at work today.

When my son was little, he fell in love with "Aladdin" and "Lion King." He would put the video cassettes into the machine himself-- and since he was two and not really talking all that coherently yet, they were titled the "Dah-dah-dah" and the "kitty dah-dah-dah," because he was so keyed into the songs and music.

So I know that special pain.

The Lion King was the favourite half a year ago or so. After that she got into all the classic swedish Astrid Lindgren movies (the author of Pippi Longstocking and lots of other books.) Other favourites have been Disney's Jungle Book, also known as "the two girls and the bushes", referring to when Mowgli meets the girl by the water hole, and "The Cats", that is Aristocats.
But now it's Grease, called "the film where they sing".
She's quite fond of P&P too, which is called "Elizabeth".

Weird - I caught myself humming Beauty-School Dropout in the bathroom this morning and I haven't watched Grease in years... though I do have the album... somewhere.

I put it down to the episode of Ugly Betty watched last night.
