My rope farthingale

It was a couple of weeks since my rope farthingale was finished. i have been too ill and it has been too warm for me to put it on and take photos however. But today and tonight it is much cooler, so I can now present you with photos. It's made from silk, stiffened with ropes and lined with wool,; all mentioned in period sources. The edge is bound with a half-silk velvet: vegetable fibre bottom weave and silk pile. The pattern is from The Tudor Tailor.

A funny thing is that even though I weigh less now than when I took the photos of my corset it was very hard to close it. I think the linen and reeds need time to stretch.
