As you may remember I had decided to sell off some clothes during Visby medieval week.
It went okay. The red corset was sold to my friend Malin and it fit her just perfect. The grey effigy corset wasn't sold, so I brought it home. Neither was the short grey corset, so I donated it to the auction to raise money for the Prince' and Princess' traveling fund. It was bought by a lady in a quite nice Tudor dress and french hood. My grey jacket was bought by the queen of Nordrike and this dress

was bought by [livejournal.com profile] historian31, aka Teddy's friend Paul. I wasn't there when he tried it on, but according to both him and hubby it fit him, and I'm sure he looked much less dumpy in it. (This was short after the birth of Maja.)

I bought fabric, a cheap recorder for Maja, hand made sewing needles, indigo dyed silk yarn and a flea fur (whole, dead marten) for the money.

Sorry to butt in, but is your friend Malin the same as my friend Malin: cute Visby lass who lived in Australia for a few months in 2004?

My friend Maggie, who is definitely the same as your friend Maggie, linked to you, and I was just admiring your sewing when I spotted a potential happy coincidence. I'll stop stalking now ...

Nope, she's a local girl from Göteborg. Malin is an extremely common name among people born in the late 60s and the 70s.

That I knew, but given that my Malin is also SKA and was at that event, I thought there was a chance! Still, glad that Maggie has pointed me in the direction of your costuming, which is great!

So, how did my clothes sale go?

Very nice to see a picture of this fabulous 12th Century gown in wear by it's creator!

Yes there will be an image in the near future of me/Mistress Sigrid wearing it.

The headcovering I have for Sigrid is not long enough and the above picture tells me that this is what I should be wearing on the head! I'm not happy with what I currently use which is a small oval of net like fabric. That looks like a metal circlet/fillet and I do have one of those. I'd certainly welcome any suggestions as what to get/how much etc.

I bought a brooch while in Visby which is about 5.5cm across and has a design I was told is Gotlandic. I thought this would be ideal to use if I wanted to close the neck up at any time.

I think it's a fantastic gown and I am delighted with it.
