The event was nice and relaxed and while Maja took up most of my time she was cheerful and nice while doing this. I passed tha first part of my Master's test in the tailor's guild and I now have a great lust to start sewing on the second part again. I need more, gorgeous 16th century outfits.
I managed to find the time to take in the blue peasant gown so I could wear it this weekend too:

With a white apron and pinned on sleeves, and without the red outer cap.

I love it that the internet allows me to know other people who are enthused about making real clothing. THat's a roundabout way of saying you look fab. (And Maja is the cutest thing ever, but you knew taht).

What does the masters test involve?

Thank you!
Since Nordrike covers the years 600-1600 one of the things tested is the knowledge of more than one historic period. You have to make three complete costumes, of which one is to be totally hand sewn and none are allowed to have machine stitching visible on the outside. Both sexes must be represented and the three costumes must come from different times/regions, so that attempting master shows his/her knowledge of more than one era. They must also differ from the time/region/style of the costume made for the journeyman's test. In one of the costumes the tunic/kirtle/gown/body-covering garment has to be based on a preserved garment.

I made a hand sewn costume based on the late 14th century find of a complete (as in all layers, not completely preserved garments) woman's costume from Norway. I've been writing a lot about it, as you may have noticed.
My next test costume is the pink dress here (http://skraddarskraat.nordrike.org/Mastarprov/aleydismaestarprov1.html).
