Did you face the hem with a bit of bias cut silk? And do I see little cuts in the hem to make a hem sweep?

It was cut mostly on the straight, or rather curved to the shape of the skirt, I didn't have enough silk to do it on the bias; but there are indeed those little cuts found also on Eleonora of Toledo's gown.

I am curious: is there a benefit to cutting notches in the hem, or is it just for decoration?

No idea, both Eleonora's and another dress from her court has them. I think it's purely decorative, although it also protects the "real" hem from wear. But it would do that without the little slits too.

Det är inte så svårt när man har gjort det så länge som jag, men visst är det lite knepigt med passform ibland. Men det är härligt att få jobba med såna fina material: sidentaft och fint ylle och sån't som man oftast inte har på sig till vardags.
