Anyone who claims (an they are many) that women have some kind of natural disposition for cleaning and keeping tidy have never had teenage daughters.
No, we don't have a natural disposition for it, we have just been told for centuries that it's our job and that we are valued after how clean our homes are.

I have just vacuumed the whole flat and while that may not seem like a lot of work it is if you have arthritis. But the friend who's coming over has a little boy who is allergic, so there wasn't much else to do.

Ditto for that! I shudder to think what kind of slob I was as a teenager. My poor mother... After I moved to my own flat I've tried to keep it tidy, but in my case it means that you can walk on the floors without stumbling to books or fabric piles.

Admittedly, I've never liked cleaning. It's just not in my genes. I mean, I DO it, but... there's no pleasure or satisfactory feeling involved. It's a job, like everything else.

My sister claims that men ironing shirts aren't sexy, so she insists on doing it. I asked her what's the main goal of ironing shirts - to look sexy, or to get the job done? Seriously....

I do!!! This morning I told J to do the kitchen and B (son) to do the vacuuming - and they DID! and B cleaned the sink! They did whine but not nearly as much as normal :)

There are times when I am at home caring for our daughter and the house, and times when my hubby is home. He does both much better than I do. :-)
