The remake of the yellow and black gown is finished. It's a little long in the bodice where the side trim goes down, but I won't move the skirt now. It also gaps a little where my rib cage ends but I only need to lose a kilo, which I plan to do anyway, to make it sit better.

There are still some things I need to fix, for example I need to take in the waistband of the forepart, the reason it's hanging down in one side is that it is 6-8 cm too wide in the waist. I also need to fix some better way to attach the white brocade sleeves than pins, because they escaped and one of the sleeves started "wandering" down - we can't have that when I'm drinking at an event. I also want to make some new headwear.

Why not just baste the sleeves in...or have them tie with points.

This looks fabulous! BTW.
I can't wait to see what you come up with for headwear.

That looks wonderful! You may have convinced me to cut down my blue highnecked gown that's gathering dust in my closet.

It may be boring to remake old clothes, or at least less inspiring than to start on something new, but it is also very rewarding: you get a "new" dress with much less work.

Tie-ons for the sleeves is a good idea. I have that for the reversible slevves of the Raphael dress I made, and it works really well.

The re-made dress looks smashing! I love the effect of the black trim. Did I mention "WOW!!"?

Are the sleeves entirely attached to the shoulder tabs, or no?

They are tied to the bodice, for a coronation where all the laidies in waiting should wear black sleeves I did that too. You can see them in the old photo (http://web.comhem.se/~u31138198/yellowandblackdress.html).

Very pretty yet not sweetly pretty, striking more like:) Nice example of how much of an impact reworking a gown can have:)
