Oct. 23rd, 2003 07:13 pmA friend of mine, Myra Lea, has apparently discovered AIPON, she's number 420.
Doesn't she look fabulous? I saw her outfit at our latest event (where I suspect the photo was taken) and it really is perfect even when you rub your nose into the fabric :)
The trip to Oslo was nice and a little bitter sweet. I used to spend a lot of time in Oslo 12-13 years ago and it was strange going back and not seeing the people I used to hang out with then, doing the things I did then. The pub we used to go to closed five years ago, the squatted houses we lived in are still squatted but I don't know anybody there now. But you can't go back in time. I suppose I was a little nostalgic for my youth.
But the "now" was good also. I stayed with another medieval historian I met at a previous conference and it was so nice. First time we met we connected so well and it was good to feel the connection again. She has four kids so of course we talked a lot about pregnancy, childbirth and children.
The presentation was no sweat and we had really god discussions after most of the presentations. This conference is a little special because it's only two professors of medieval history (well, on rather famous professor was there part of the time), on in Oslo and one in Gothenburg and a lot of PhD-students. It's a cooperation between the universities of Oslo and Gothenburg. The conferences are held once or twice a year and are for the benefit of the students. This conference's theme was written sources so there were no archaeologist there, which it was last time, but I've met at least half of the students before.
I came home at half past nine yesterday and today I've done some preparation for the conference on fashion that I'm going to in Stockholm tomorrow. I will be so tired when I come home on sunday! But that will be the last conference for while, I need to get some work done on my thesis.
