Christer Winberg, one of the most prominent contemporary Swedish historians, and my colleague, died on the 23rd. I just heard of it and I am very, very sad. He was often grumpy, but he could also be kind and funny and his dissertation Folkökning och proletariserng about popluation growth and social changes in 19th century Sweden is considered an important landmark in swedish historical method and is also one of my favourite books.
I've lighted candles on the altar, including my "Minerva lamp" in the shape of an owl, for his learning, and I have cried, but now I unfortunately have to work again. I just hope I can.

65, so no told. He had a bleeding in the brain, don't know the correct english word, and then another one. He wasn't exactly healthy before that, but this was unexpected.
