Just like that
May. 5th, 2008 02:48 pmToday I did something I should have done ages ago. When I started studying at university, back in 1988, it was at the teachers' programme. I finished it in 1992, it's a 4,5 year programme -except for one thing: the final research paper (15 points according to the new Bologna system universities in Europe use=c. 10 weeks of full time studying). Since I wasn't keen on working as a high school teacher it didn't bother me much and then I started studying more and more history. But now, with my PhD, having a teacher's degree is really good when applying for jobs. So I've been thinking about writing the essay for a while now. I even talked with the guy who's teaching didactics for "our" teachers' students and he volunteered to be my scientific advisor. I also had a pretty neat idea for the paper, something I could use later.
But I needed to talk to the faculty of education studies and today I finally did that and it turned out that I'm running out of time: to get my exam within the old system I have to be finished before the 30th of June. That is a little too little time, since I have other work to do.
But I don't have to worry about that, because the student advisors at the faculty of education agreed that I had already proved that I could do research and write a research paper and that my essay on how children were seen in the Middle Ages in Sweden qualified. So now I'm just waiting for those points to be entered into the university database and then I can apply for my teacher's degree. Just like that.
