The second part of my Master's test in Nordrike is now finally completed. Well, it hasn't been approved yet, but all the parts are made, the ruff is starched and set and I have now also photos of the whole ensemble. To refresh your memory: This is the painting were I got the dress from (you can also click on the tags and get all the other posts on the subject).
I don't have the time to make a web page about it yet, it will probably not turn up until later in the summer, but at least I have some photos.

The bodice of the pink gown is too tight, tighter than the corset. I may have to insert a couple of centimetres somewhere, probably mid back, or loose the 3 kilos I've gained since last July when I did most of the patterning. Because of this it's hard to put on, but it's very nice and comfortable when worn.
I need to get hair gel or something for my bangs too, spray is fine to keep it in place, but I need something to help me put it there.

It is GORgeous!!! The bodice looks perfectly fine to me, but I guess it's one of those things you notice when it's on (and when you're putting it on) rather than something that's visible.

Yay for more pink historical dresses! ;) I'm not a fan of pink in my everyday clothes, but for some reason I love it in historical garbs.

When will the dress be approved?

Thanks!

It's really a pain to close and I'm afraid the hooks won't handle it. We haven't set a date for when I'm presenting it yet, since it will have to be at an event - maybe at the medieval week in August.

BTW, I met a lovely lady, called Ruth, who does Kentwell, writes her dissertation on early modern knitting and knows you at the NESAT conference.

It's actually pretty fab (says the guy who's not really into pink) - the black edging sets off the pink perfectly.
Are you going to make the black sleeves worn in the painting as well? It looks a little strange without them pinned on.

Not strange in my opinion, since it's fairly common in art from the period, even in this painting you see the woman in teal wearing just her shirt sleeves. The plan is however to makes sleeves from the dark green/blue shot taffeta the kirtle is made from.

Spiffy (though I'm partial to more black)!

I was looking at the teal-clad one, but you see so little of her arms that it was difficult to tell. There's a woman in a black dress to the far left of the room next, who has either no lower sleeves, or possibly cream-coloured ones. The scans aren't good enough to tell.

Good thing some people are making progress on their projects. I, on the other hand, got nothing at all sewn last night...

I would prefer black too if I had any black silk. I may make a pair in black wool.

The dress is beautiful. It's such a lovely style and you've made it very well. I even like the color. It really looks like you've just stepped out of a piece of period art.

PUDEL! ok, yes I'm a bit strange. The dress is very lovely, but I have to admit, I'm wondering about the date and country of origin of the painting... because it has a large poodle in the middle of it. And, I am always looking for more information on these dogs.

Beautiful work.

1560s Lyon, it's the calvinist tempel in Lyon.

And everybody has their own special obsessions ;)

Odd, my first reaction was that it fits insanely nice in the bodice. Or maybe it's just that I like the general "line."
