Another dress for Maja and too much work
Jun. 20th, 2008 10:20 pmtoday, which sort of is the major holiday in Sweden I haven't celebrated much, or almost at all: I did eat fresh potatoes cooked with dill and I had strawberries for dessert, but due to rain my mum and I didn't go and watch any folk dancing. Before she arrived and Rickard came home from work I cleaned the kitchen benches and sink and did four large machines of laundry as well as some general tidying up. Then I started and finished a new tunic for Maja, from this old dress of mine. I did it the way I made the hose: joining the pieces with straight machine stitch and them felling the seam allowances to one side and whipstitching them in place. It makes it look nice from the inside and hand sewn from the outside, since you have the tiny dots you get from sewing the seam allowances down. Now we have eaten and I am very, very tired. I am, however, trying to make a pattern and cut out pieces for a high-necked 16th century gown in pine green wool for Maja, to be worn over the pink kirtle.
